Wilfredo Braceras
A journey of resilience that shaped a vision
Willy Braceras built our organization on a clear and forward-thinking vision: to create a “one-stop” healthcare model where patients could receive comprehensive care within a single, connected system. He understood that fragmented care created challenges for patients and families, and he set out to change that—bringing multiple services together to ensure a more seamless, coordinated, and patient-centered experience.
Willy Braceras’s journey began in Cuba, where, at the age of seven, he moved with his family to Remedios—also known as San Juan de los Remedios—a historic town near the northern coast of the island. Rich in culture and tradition, Remedios played an important role in shaping his early years.
Following the Cuban Revolution, the lives of millions were forever changed, including the Braceras family. In 1961, they relocated to Havana, living in uncertainty for over a year before ultimately making the difficult decision to leave their homeland. On August 7, 1962, Willy arrived in Miami with his two brothers as part of Operation Pedro Pan—one of thousands of children who came to the United States alone in search of safety and opportunity. He would not reunite with his parents for eight years.

Despite these challenges, Willy remained deeply committed to education and personal growth. In 1967, he earned a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. Shortly thereafter, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era and was stationed in Germany.
After completing his service, he continued his education, earning degrees in Accounting, Finance, and Banking, along with two master’s degrees in Accounting. His academic achievements led to a distinguished career as a federal agent with the United States Treasury Department, where he served with the IRS until 1982.
Willy Braceras’s life was defined by resilience, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to building something meaningful. From his early beginnings in Cuba to his success in the United States, he carried with him a deep appreciation for opportunity and a strong desire to help others. That vision became the foundation of our organization.
Today, his legacy lives on in everything we do—expanding access to high-quality, affordable healthcare and serving our communities with compassion, integrity, and excellence.
